Lithuanian project awarded during the WSA gala ceremony in Cairo 2012.04.28

Lithuanian “Help for the Children” webpage (www.pagalbavaikams.lt) was awarded as the best project under the category “E-inclusion and Participation” during the World Summit Awards (WSA) Gala event in Cairo on April 27, 2012.
Lithuanian project was selected as the best in its category and awarded together with other 40 e-content projects from all around the world during the ceremony that took place at the historical Cairo Citadel. It is the first time when a Lithuanian project received WSA award. Giedrius Jokubauskis, Attaché of the Lithuanian Embassy in Cairo, received the award on behalf of the wining “Help for the Children” team.
The World Summit Award (WSA) is the global contest to select best practice in e-Content and innovative ICT applications. It offers a worldwide platform for all who value the creative use of ICTs and who are committed to making today’s information society more inclusive. WSA partners come from governments, private sector and civil society in over 160 UN member states.

Foreign families may apply only for adoption of children with special needs 2012.04.12

From 1st of April 2012 foreign nationals who are the permanent residents of a foreign state may apply to State Child Rights Protection and Adoption Service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour only with an application for adoption of children with special needs. Besides, only spouses may apply for mentioned adoption.
Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania (spouses) and spouses whereof one is a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania who are the permanent residents of a foreign state may apply for adoption in usual order as it was before.
New rules regarding intercountry adoption came into force in accordance with the order of the Minister of Social Security and Labour No. A1-8 of January 10, 2012 Re: Amendments to the order of the Minister of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania No. A1-162 “ Re: approval of the description of procedure for authorizing the institutions of foreign states to act in pursuance of international adoption in the Republic of Lithuania” of 3 June 2005.

The first Lithuanian interactive electronic book was introduced for children 2011.12.22

The first electronic book is foremost designed for iPad and iPhone holders. The book "Mousey Howsee and the Rescuers“ is based on one of story of Jurga Sakalauskaitė's book "Funny Mousey Howsee history“. It stimulates children to learn about modern world, realize the outcome of their actions and decisions and take responsibility for their mistakes. According to the authoress all these things are imparted by presenting Mousey Howsee's acts as an example of appropriate behaviour.
The development of action depends on reader's occurrence, weather and time. The consumer has a possibility to experience the story in different ways and influence it by interaction with illustractions and sound. There is also a game integrated in this book.
Two electronic book's versions are available Lithuanian and English.

The 7th meeting of adoptive families 2011.08.08

The annual meeting of adoptive lithuanian and foreign families was held on 5–7 August, 2011 in district of Vilkaviškis. About 30 lithuanian and 15 foreign families participated in this meeting.
